Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer

This music video was made in 1986. It is a stop motion animation that shows image referances to the lyrics, for example in the first verse of the song it says
"You could have a steam train If you'd just lay down your tracks You could have an aeroplane flying If you bring your blue sky back"

The images shown in the video are timed to appear when those lyrics are being sang. As you can see in the images below there is a train, a plane and a blue sky.

This video is relevant to this topic because the theme is music, we have to create 2 story boards and 4 final images for our own music video, this is helpful because i was thinking of maybe doing a stop motion animation for my video.
I like the fact that this is a stop motion video because, well to be honest i didn't think people in the 1980's even knew what stop motion was so i was impressed. I was also impressed by the amount of effort that has been put into it and how the images throughout relate to the lyrics. There are alot of different materials used, i like how there is face paint used to make the video fit in more with the lyrics like on the last image above, they have used face paint there and the clouds move across his face like in real life.
If i were to create a video like this i wouldnt change it, it would be different and have better resorces but thats only because times have changed and so has technology so i think it would just have better materials to work with.
